Pastor Marvin L. Winans Weds Longtime Girlfriend

Gospel legend Marvin L. Winans, pastor and founder of the Perfecting Faith Church recently wed his longtime girlfriend, Deneen R. Carter. Much like their courtship, the details of the nuptials were not immediately disclosed to the public. The couple who dated quietly for 15 years first announced their engagement last October. Social media posts from Winans’ siblings, sister CeCe and brother BeBe were the first clues that Winans had indeed tied the knot. The groom who looked dapper in pics, wore a top hat, and carried a walking stick while the stunning bride wore a fabulous gown with a full white veil. The wedding has held place on April 22nd at The Colony Club in Detroit, MI.

Prominent L.A. Bishop Reveals Parkinson’s Diagnosis

Bishop Charles Blake Sr., a presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ recently announced he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Blake, who has served as the Senior Pastor of the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, CA for 53 years addressed the congregation towards the end of the service held on Sunday, April 24th putting an end to the speculation concerning the state of his health. Blake who had been diagnosed 10 years ago, said “I am acutely aware that my Parkinson’s diagnosis is impacting my physical stature, and vocal strength,” he shared these other thoughts in an official statement that was released the next day. His sons, Elder Charles Blake II who was elevated to co-pastor of the mega-ministry in November and Co-Pastor Charles Blake II, Young Adult Pastor Lawrence Blake, and the West Angeles Church clergy will be rotating duties with Bishop Blake Sr. who stated he will continue preaching.

Billboard Music Awards Announces 2022 Nominees

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by rapper, record executive and entrepreneur Sean Combs will be held Sunday, May 15th in Las Vegas at the 17,000-seat MGM Grand Garden Arena. Nominees were announced recently honoring this year’s most successful musicians in 17 categories.  Nominations for Top Gospel Artist are being held this year by CeCe Winans, Elevation Worship, Kirk Franklin, Maverick City Music, and Kanye West who goes by “Ye.” West has received 13 nods in total which also includes the rap category for his “Donda,” album. The ceremony will air live on May 15th on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. ET.

Hollywood Producer DeVon Franklin Releases Audible Memoir

Hollywood Producer, author, and motivational speaker DeVon Franklin has released his first self-narrated book for Audible. The new book It Takes a Woman,” is his first audio-only memoir where he introduces us to the women who have raised him. The audiobook which was released on April 21st gives us a candid and personal twist on the selflessness of the women in his family he credits for molding him into the man we see today. He also shares publicly for the first time, the aftermath of his father’s untimely death and how it nearly devasted the family’s future. The book also shares a candid conversation about everything including his insights on divorce, dating, sex and money and of course the family bond he still shares today with his great contributors – his mother and five great-aunts.

Christian Artists Join Pray.com for “National Day of Prayer”

The National Day of Prayer will be commemorated this year through a special broadcast on May 5th at 8 p.m. ET, that will feature performances by Grammy Award-winning Christian artists including Lecrae, Chris Tomlin and Matthew West. The National Day of Prayer Task Force is partnering with Pray.com and the Museum of the Bible for a broadcast celebration that will follow tens of thousands of pray gatherings throughout the U.S and several U.S. territories. Faith leaders will gather at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. to lead the nation in collective worship and prayer. The 2022 National Day of Prayer broadcast which will air at the Daystar Television Network and God TV as well as on-air at Bott Radio Network and Faith Radio networks is expected to reach more than 300 million homes across the nation. The broadcast will also be available on websites and on social media platforms.
