Henry Gates Louis’ “The Black Church” Will Be Airing as a Two-Part Series Airing on PBS

The Black Church: This Is Our Story, This Is Our Songis a four-hour, two-part series that will be premiering on PBS February 16-17, 2021 9:00pm ET/8:00pm CT. Henry Louis Gates, Jr, the

executive producer, host and writer of the series traces the 400-year-old story of the Black church in America all the way down to its beginnings. The documentary follows how Black people have worshiped and improvised ways to bring their faith traditions from Africa to the New World.  Historically, Christianity was not truly the religion of those of African descend but has its origins in their ancestors’ enslavement across the Middle Passage. “The Black Church: This Is Our Story, This Is Our Song” is production of McGee Media, Inkwell Media and WETA Washington, D.C., in association with Get Lifted.

Gospel Singer Douglas Miller Has Died Age 71

Douglas Miller, Grammy-nominated gospel artist known for his rich baritone voice passed away at age 71 on Friday, February 5, 2021. Miller who was known for popular songs such as “My Soul Has Been Anchored in the Lord” and “Unspeakable Joy,” grew up performing in church choirs. He later continued his musical studies under the mentorship of the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, matriarch of The Legendary Clark Sisters. In 1990, Miller collaborated with Dr. Clark and went on to record over a dozen albums including his Grammy-nominated “Live in Houston, The Best of Douglas Miller: The Early Years” in 2000.

USA Network is Airing Weekly New Reality TV Show “The Rev” 

“The Rev”  is a new reality TV show airing Thursdays at 10:30 PM ET/9:30 PM CT on the USA Network. The pilot which debuted on January 21, 2021 stars Reverend “Rev” Richard Hartley, a New-York based pastor who has performed with music icons such as Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and many others throughout his long-standing career as a pastor and musical director. Aside from performing alongside such legends, Hartley has also appeared in a video with Mariah Carey, on television with Aretha Franklin and in a movie with Diana Ross.

For the past 14 years, Rev. Hartley has served as the pastor and co-founder of the Haven International Ministries in Far Rockaway, New York. “The Rev “is a reality sitcom that follows Reverend Richard Hartley the patriarch of his fun, outspoken family that includes his wife Stacey, daughter Judea and son Jordan. The show is said to be funny and there’s never a dull moment in the world of larger-than-life Pastor Richard Hartley. When he’s not at his church inspiring his congregation and honing his choir’s musical skills, he’s with the family navigating their hilarious and ongoing shenanigans.

Public Viewing for Cicely Tyson to be Held at the Historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in NY

Fans and supporters of the legendary actress Cicely Tyson will have an opportunity pay respects and give their final farewells at a public viewing scheduled for Monday, February 15, 2021. The viewing will be held in Harlem in New York City the neighborhood of her youth. Tyson who’s passing was announced January 28, 2021 will be honored at the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in Manhattan from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. COVID-19 protocols and social distancing requirements will be observed at the church during the viewing.

Dr. Teresa Hairston to Pens Memoir “Unstoppable”

Dr. Teresa Hairston, best known as one of the most significant voices in Gospel media penned her eighth book, a personal memoir titled “Unstoppable: The Incredible Journey of America’s #1 Christian Lifestyle Magazine. The book chronicles her amazing journey as a publisher, life coach, mentor and entrepreneur in male-dominated Christian marketplace and music industry. 

The self-published coffee table book contains historical archival photos and details Hairston’s life through her most recent battle with COVID-19. “Unstoppable” also goes on to relive Hairston’s challenging moments as a single mother following a divorce all while making a name for herself within the Christian media industry. Unstoppable: The Incredible Journey of America’s #1 Christian Lifestyle Magazine” will be available on digital outlets on February 22, 2021. The e-book can be purchased on and the hardcover collectible book will later be released for online order, March 22, 2021.
