Deborah Joy Winans Set to Star in “Don’t Waste Your Pretty”
Deborah Joy Winans singer and actress has been cast in the role of the upcoming TV One original movie “Don’t Waste Your Pretty.” Winans who recently appeared as “Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee” in the ongoing OWN TV series “Greenleaf” will be Jeanné. “Don’t Waste Your Pretty” based on the eponymous novel penned by award-winning author and media personality Demetria L. Lucas that follows a group of close friends as they sort out the complexities of their turbulent life issues within the workplace, family interactions and love. “Don’t Waste Your Pretty” premieres on Sunday, February 28 at 8:00 PM ET/ 7:00 PM CT on TV One. The full cast includes Keri Hilson as Mykah, Redaric Williams as Michael, Deborah Joy Winans as Jeanné, Jasmine Burke as Aisha, Kaye Singleton as Amma and Raney Branch as Lisa.
Contemporary Christian Artist CCM Age 65 Has Died
Carmelo Domenic Licciardello the iconic CCM artist simply known as “CARMAN” passed away on February 16, 2021 at age 65 in a Las Vegas hospital due to complications from surgery. During his 40-year career, CARMAN singer of story songs “Satan, Bite the Dust!” and “R.I.O.T. (Righteous Invasion of Truth)” had sold more than 10 million albums and won seven Dove Awards and received nominated for four Grammys. The Christian singer who was remembered for his showmanship which was a combination of singing, acting, satire and preaching first got saved at an Andrae Crouch concert. In 1981, CARMAN started traveling as an opening act for the Bill Gaither Trio. In 2006, CARMAN recorded “Shakin’ the House Live!” with Commissioned and The Christ Church Choir. Following a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2013, his fans raised $280,000 for him to go on a 60-city tour. CARMAN was inducted in 2018 into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Bri Babineaux Release New Album “The Encounter Continues”
Bri Babineaux recently hosted a virtual album release concert for her album The Encounter Continues. The new album released on February 26, 2021 embodies worship experiences where believers intimately encounter God. The project is a follow up to her 2015 debut “The Encounter.” The Louisiana native who became a gospel sensation through her YouTube performances has co-written many of the songs for her latest project which was recorded live at a church just outside of New Orleans. This is also a first-time venture with her own imprint and Tyscot Records.
Israel Houghton Releases New Live Album
Grammy award winning, praise & worship gospel artist Israel Houghton has released new live album Feels Like Home: The Quarantine Worship Experience. The album that was released on February 26, 2021 was derived from Israel & New Breed’s live event that took place last year of the same name in 2020 which marked their 20th year together. In 2021, nearly a year after beginning his #WorshipWednesdays livestream services for stay-at-home worship services, Houghton released the first single, “Hymn of Breakthrough.” Feels Like Home was streamed live from Houghton’s sister-in-law’s home in New York last November with musicians who all had agreed to quarantine and test for COVID-19 prior to gathering. Israel Houghton & New Breed hosted “Feels Like Home” on demand and virtual album release party.
Deon Kipping Launches New Record Label
Gospel artist Deon Kipping has announced the launch of his new record label The Underestimated Group. Kipping who is a songwriter, producer, and cancer survivor released his own song “God is Working” as the first single under the new label. Kipping who recently joined Greenville, SC’s Redemption East Church as a worship leader has already tapped the diverse Christian music collective The Huddle Worship as the first artists signed to the label. The Huddle Worship’s debut song “Waiting for Me” is now available on all digital platforms.
