National African American Music Museum Set to Open on MLK Day in Nashville, TN

The National African American Music Museum is set to open a 56,000 square foot facility in Nashville, TN on Martin Luther King Day, January 18, 2021. The museum will be the first-ever dedicated to jazz, gospel, R&B, blues, hip-hop and other genres. The National Museum of African American Music will host a socially distanced ribbon cutting ceremony during the official opening and will open its doors to members of the Museum on January 23-24. The National Museum of African American Music will house several galleries with collections of artifacts, memorabilia and clothing that will honor the history and legacy of African American music. The National Museum of African American Music will be open to the general public on January 30, 2020, however due to COVID-19 the number of people admitted will be limited and required to wear masks.




Congratulations to Actress/Singer Now Newlywed Sheléa

On December 31, 2020, Sheléa Frazier known professionally as Sheléawed Dr. Philip McDonald in Malibu, CA.  Sheléa who was mentored by Stevie Wonder and is a protégée of Quincy Jones is most recently recognized for her incredible acting debut in the role of Dorinda Clark Cole in the Lifetime biopic The Clark Sisters: First Lady of Gospel. The California native gained famed as a viral YouTube sensation for her tribute medley of Whitney Houston’s songs following her passing. Sheléa will be making an anticipated return to television and is currently working on the production of a new series.




Gospel Artist Latice Crawford Offers Women a Holistic Approach to Life in 2021

Gospel artist, songwriter and BET Sunday Best alumnae Latice Crawford is now a certified life coach. Crawford’s company Whole Life is a holistic women’s empowerment and life coaching service created to help heal the whole woman – mind, body, soul particularly during this new season. Crawford specializes in modern applied psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotional intelligence and neurolinguistic programming.

“We’ve all now been given the opportunity to really sit with ourselves, and we’re realizing that we don’t really like our own company, we’re realizing a lot about ourselves, we’re sitting in our traumas with no escape so it’s making us confront them. I’ve always wanted for my ministry to be more than a song…people need help, they need hope” says Crawford. Crawford says her main focus is to remind her clients that every part of their life has purpose and is useful. “Wholeness is a journey, and I want to walk with them on theirs until they can walk on their own.” The goal is to teach her clients new tools to fix old problems and traumas, so they can heal and walk fully into a better version of themselves for their future.  Crawford is available for life coaching and motivational speaking for both individual and group sessions at [email protected]

BET Sunday Best Winner Geoffrey Golden Welcomes Baby Girl Avah Marie

Geoffrey Golden winner of BET Sunday Best’s Season 7 series just became a new father. Geoffrey’s wife Rebecca gave birth to their baby girl Avah Marie on December 27, 2020. Avah Marie originally anticipated to be born on New Year’s Day surprised her parents with an early arrival. On the musical front, Golden recently released See Revival, a full album recorded live at the historic Bailey Cathedral in Detroit, Michigan. The 10-track project was inspired by the scripture Isaiah 43:19 and is available on all streaming and sales platforms.




Rev. Raphael Warnock Wins 2021 Georgia Democratic Senate Seat

Rev. Raphael Warnock declared himself the early winner of the Georgia senate seat during the evening of the Senate special runoff election on January 5, 2021. Warnock who claimed victory while in the lead over incumbent Kelly Loeffler said in a televised speech to the public “I am going to the Senate to work for all of Georgia”. Warnock’s win has made him the first Black senator elected in the south. Rev. Raphael Warnock has served as the senior pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta since 2005. Ebenezer Baptist Church is well known as the spiritual home that was led by the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Warnock came to prominence as a Georgia politician in 2014 as a leader in the campaign to expand Medicaid in the state that led to a sit-in at the Georgia State Capitol.
