Rising star Bre Holly is a vocal force to be reckoned with. Her spiritual tenacity is personified in song and praise and has touched many audiences nationally. With an upcoming release of her feature on the Vincent Bohanan single “Jesus Saved the Day” (see video after the jump!), Bre Holly is poised to make her mark in the music industry.
Bre Holly is a newcomer who ain’t new to this – she has been singing quartet all her life. Her parents, both spiritual leaders and musicians, laid the foundation for her to live out her destiny with an anointing in song. Her mother sang in the gospel quartet Sounds of Faith. (The group recorded, but never had an official release). Bre’s father was a member of the group Godsons for nine years. As an extension of this intrinsic history, Bre’s mother gave her a front position at church and in Sounds of Faith so that Bre would experience first-hand, how to vocally guide congregations. Nowadays, Bre is requested to sing at events and she travels up and down the east coast as a featured act.
Musical greats are almost never anomalies and hold positions in the lineage of previous creative powerhouses. Bre Holly stands not only at the intersection of her parents, but in between the other artists she credits as her major influences – Lisa Knowles-Smith and Duranice Pace. Bre expressed that she has watched videos of the late great Duranice Pace to get her through complex times.
When AURN Inspirational spoke with Bre about the messages and themes present in her music, she said: “My music is based around – trusting God. As young ppl they go through things in life and can’t talk to family. [My music] is encouraging people to hold onto life and faith.” You can hear this message reverberate as an explosive conviction in all Bre’s performances.
Bre recognizes the fullness of her expression and how much of a musical boss she truly is. In September, she announced the formation her new girl group Bre Holly and Faithful. The quartet is composed of four young women from New Jersey with Bre as the lead vocalist. With Bre at the helm, she also took the lead on the directions she wants to go with her music career and the group’s broad interests. Just like many groups that came before them whose roots were in gospel music, Bre Holly and Faithful will also sing other genres and contemporary sounds. The group’s first single “Holding” is slated to be released sometime in November on all digital outlets and CDs.
Bre Holly’s current position is firm and promising, and the hands of time will reveal when the rest of the world will hear the veracity of her musical anointing.
