Plumber Finds Hidden Treasure Behind Toilet Wall at Lakewood Church
A plumber doing work at the Lakewood Church in TX made an unusual discovery behind the wall of a loose toilet. The plumber uncovered nearly 500 envelopes filled with checks and cash while removing tiles and insulation. Evidence shows that the amount of money found coincides with the hundreds of thousands of dollars that had reportedly been stolen from a safe at the megachurch back in 2014. The Houston Police Department was still conducting an active investigation of the seven-year-old cold case in which $600,000 had disappeared from the church’s safe. The plumber who had found the money, had contacted a maintenance supervisor, then gave the church the envelopes he found. It’s still unclear exactly how much money had been recovered from inside the bathroom wall of The Lakewood Church led by prominent televangelist Joel Osteen. Back in 2014 when the burglary first occurred, a $20,000 reward was offered and then donated a year later to the Crime Stoppers of Houston for information leading to an arrest. The Houston Police confirmed it appeared the money found was likely the same money that was stolen in 2014. It is still not clear whether or not the plumber who made the discovery has received an award for his role in helping recoup the stolen money since technically there wasn’t an actual arrest connected to the discovery but he is hoping to still get some reward.
