Singer Bryan Andrew Wilson is Set to Release New Song “The Ride”

Bryan Andrew Wilson is riding high in the new year with a new single entitled, “The Ride” which is all about surrendering the “steering wheel” of one’s life and allowing God to become the driver. In November 2020, Wilson took a car ride that resulted in a potentially fatal crash. He was run off of the road by another driver in Atlanta but has since fully recovered.

The “Ride” is a follow up to Bryan’s recent Billboard Top 25 hits “This Time” and “With Every Beat of My Heart and is tentatively scheduled to be released on Apple Music and all other digital streaming outlets on February 26, 2021.


Group of Renowned Black Clergy Launch Nationwide COVID-19 Testing Campaign

The nationwide Choose Healthy Life (CHL) led by Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Calvin O. Butts, III  kicked off its nationwide Choose Healthy Life (CHL) initiative aimed at addressing health disparities in the Black community through the Black Church. They launched their first COVID-19 testing event at the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, N.Y.The Choose Healthy Life Action (CHL) plan will provide services including COVID-19 testing, vaccine awareness and preventative health education through 50 churches across five cities including New York, Newark, NJ, Detroit, MI, Atlanta, GA and Washington D.C. The CHL initiative has joined in partnership with United Way of New York City, Quest Diagnostics and America’s leading public health experts.


52nd Annual NAACP Image Awards Announced Nominees

The nominees for the 52nd Annual NAACP Image Awards were announced via Instagram February 2, 2021. Tony-award winning actress Anika Noni-Rose, singer Chloe Bailey, actress Erika Alexander, actor, dancer and choreographer Nicco Annan and actor and singer Terrence (TC) Carson presented the nominees virtually. Prior to the virtual event, NAACP Image Awards and Emmy-nominated talk show “The Real” revealed nominees in the 15 categories. Nicco Annan announced the recording categories which included the nominees for “Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album” Among those nominated were “Chosen Vessel,” Marvin Sapp, “Gospel According to PJ,” PJ Morton, “I Am,” Koryn Hawthorne, “Kierra,” Kierra Sheard and “The Return,” The Clark Sisters

The 52nd Annual NAACP Image Awards has been rescheduled and will air live on Saturday, March 27, 2021 on BET.


Madea’s Farewell Play Will Premiere on BET in February

Tyler Perry’s hilariously popular character Madea is headed to BET on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. The television debut for ‘Madea’s Farewell Play’ will air at 6:00 PM ET/ 5:00 PM CT. The television show is derived from the stage play of the same name which toured in 2019. The live play was the final tour in the Madea franchise. Many of the actors are from reoccurring roles including David and Tamela Mann as “Mr. Brown” and his daughter “Cora.” Cassi Davis returns as “Aunt Bam” and comedian Kwaylon Rogers joins the cast as the scene-stealing Tiffany “TiTi” Samuels.


Central City Productions Released a Call for Entries for the 36th Annual Stellar Awards

Central City Productions released the call for entries for the upcoming 36th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards. Online submissions and product submissions will be accepted through February 19, 2021.  To be eligible, projects must have been released via national distribution or online streaming and Gospel radio stations and must have been broadcasted via terrestrial or online platforms from October 1, 2019 through January 31, 2021. Other qualifying rules and regulations will be posted online. Public online voting begins Monday, April 5, 2021.

The 36th Annual Stellar Awards hailed as the ‘Greatest Night of Gospel Music,’ will air via national broadcast syndication and cable networks July 30 – September 5, 2021. Forthcoming details regarding the taping, performers, and special honorees will be released at a later date.
