Richmond, Virginia’s own G.I. (God’s Image) is winning in life and in music. The Stellar Award nominated gospel group’s latest record “Winning” debuted on Billboard Gospel Album Sales Chart at #6. The third album recorded by the trio was issued by BGA Music Group/Shanachie. The album’s lead single “Pray and Don’t Worry” rose to Billboard Gospel Airplay’s Top 10 Chart and remained there for 20 weeks. The sonically contemporary record includes elements of Hip Hop, R&B, Traditional gospel and Trap sounds. The video for the well-received single “In Love With You” features Keke Wyatt. The single featuring the R&B powerhouse, has been foreshadowed to be a new favorite wedding song.
G.I. which is driven by the multi talents of Branden Anderson, Curtis Langley, and Lamonte Harris, are no strangers in the industry or life’s ups and downs. The group formed in 1997 and released their self-titled debut album in 2009. From that album, their hit single “Get Up” remained on the Top 30 Billboard Gospel Songs Chart for most of the year, and their video reached the No. 1 position on Gospel Music Channel.
Branden, let’s their audience know “Whether it be your spiritual life, on your job, or in your marriage. These songs all deal with some level of winning.” And he continues by stating “All the songs have a similar theme as far as the elements we need to win in every aspect of life,”. Nominated for a Stellar Award this year, God’s Image is poised to continue reaching new heights because they strive to touch people from varying walks of life and as Lamonte states, “I think every album shows our personal growth. I think we will continue to be a voice for people who are not traditionally churched and don’t want to move from a Chris Brown to a Shirley Caesar track.”
