Mali Music is Presenting “A Night of Soul Searching”
Grammy-award winning artist Mali Music will be headlining “A Night of Soul Searching” at The Ambassador in St. Louis to kick off Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 28th. This is a return engagement for Mali who promises to be electrifying! Mali ‘s latest project “Book of Mali” is a nominated for the Rap/Hip Hop Gospel Album of the Year for the 2021 Stellar Awards. The Church of God in Christ Announced the Passing of Supervisor Joyce L. Rodgers
Only days after Evangelist Joyce L. Rodgers was appointed as Supervisor of the C.O.G.I.C.’s Department of Women’s Texas Northeast First Ecclesiastical, word of her passing was announced. The news prompted an outpouring of support from across the country. Supervisor Rodgers was installed on May 17th just two days before her passing from an undisclosed illness. Supervisor Rodgers, who was 65 years old at the time of her passing was also a popular author. Final arrangements for her public viewing and jurisdictional celebration are set to begin on June 1st and will conclude with a National Homegoing Celebration Service on Thursday, June 3rd at The Potter’s House in Dallas, TX.
Kanye West Wins 2021 Billboard Music Award for Top Gospel Artist
Kanye West was named the winner for Top Gospel Artist category for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards for the second year in a row. Earlier this year Kanye also won his first gospel Grammy for his album “Jesus is King.” This year marks the third consecutive year of Billboard wins for Kanye in the Christian category making this year a total of six wins in the gospel or Christian categories. Other notables who were nominated for Top Gospel Artist include Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Koryn Hawthorne and Maverick City Music.
Nominees for the 36th Annual Stellar Awards Have Been Announced
The organizers of the 36th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards recently announced the nominees for this year’s ceremony. The theme this year is “Lighting the Way with Our Faith, Music and Family.” Leading this year’s nominees is Jonathan McReynolds who has received eight nominations followed by Pastor Mike Jr., Kierra Sheard, Maverick City Music and Anthony Brown and group therApy all tied with seven nominations. Others with multiple nominations include The Clark Sisters, Rev. Luther Barnes & the Restoration Worship Center Choir, Jekalyn Carr, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and the Chicago Mass Choir. Special honors will be bestowed upon Pastor Shirley Caesar who will be receiving the Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Achievement Award, Dr. Leonard Scott who will be honored with the Thomas A Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award and Black Smoke Music Worldwide founder Kerry Douglas, A&R guru Skip Barrett and Gospel Today Magazine founder Dr. Teresa Hairston who will all be inducted into the Stellar Honors Hall of Fame.
Peace Starts with Me: Peace & Blessing Virtual Celebration
The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification USA will be hosting “Peace Starts with Me: Peace & Blessing” a star-studded virtual celebration featuring performances by Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, Joann Rosario Condrey and The Soul Children of Chicago. The virtual event will take place online on June 5th at 6:00 PM ET. The Marriage Blessing will also take place as part of the event. It is a worldwide tradition shared by couples who wish to dedicate or re-dedicate their unions to God’s purpose. “The Peace Starts with Me” event gathers thousands of people who represent diverse groups of racial and religious backgrounds who share a common goal to stand united for peace. Words of inspiration will be shared by both Bishop Noel Jones of the City of Refuge Church and The Mother of Peace, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
