Gospel Industry Mourns the Loss of Jamillah Muhammad
The gospel industry was left stunned and saddened upon hearing the news that 51-year-old industry vet Jamillah Muhammad had died in Los Angeles. Unbeknownst to many, Jamillah battled colon cancer for four years. She spent her final days peacefully in a hospice surrounded by family and friends. Muhammad who was affectionately known in the industry as “Jam”, was remembered by many as a kind and sweet-natured person who spent her career in radio not behind the mic but as a program director. Her final position as a programmer was held at KJLH in Los Angeles. Most recently, she was the VP for the Lewis-Kortez Group. Prior to that, she worked held roles at Beasley’s WPEG and WBAV-Charlotte, WMXD-Detroit, Urban WKKV-FM (V100) in Milwaukee and spent many years in Chicago as an Assistant Program Director for WGCI/WVAZ. Jamillah will be flown to Detroit for burial in her final resting place. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Pastor Shirley Caesar Goes Viral After Posting Home in NC for Sale
12x Grammy Award-winning gospel legend Pastor Shirley Caesar has become a viral sensation yet again. When Pastor Caesar listed her home in Raleigh, NC for sale the reactions of fans and the public ranged from curiosity to outright surprise. The home dubbed the “Star Wars House” was also the topic of a whimsical local news story showing details of the home theater that resembles the interior of a spacecraft complete with life-sized replicas of Darth Vader, and an armed Stormtrooper. The seating, wallpaper and décor also were inspired by the popular Star Wars franchise. The home has of course attracted national attention from everyone from gospel fans to Trekkies.
Pastor Caesar known as “The First Lady of Gospel,” will be 83 years old in October and is no stranger to meaning of “going viral.” In 2016, she garnered a whole new generation of fans when a portion of her song “Hold My Mule,” became the inspiration for the nationwide #UNameItChallenge. The gospel singer’s unique home is currently listed on Zillow Gone Wild for $1.5 million. Besides the galactic home theater, the home also boasts 4-bedrooms and 7 baths that overlook a beautiful lake. The Caravans legend has been a mainstay in the gospel industry for seven decades. There’s no doubt “The Force” will continue to be her and hopefully the home will soon find a buyer.
