Nick Cannon’s “Miracle Across 125th Street” Has Begun Filming
Nick Cannon took to social media recently to reveal pictures he took with his 4-year-old son Golden. Cannon announced that his youngest son will have his first on-screen role in the upcoming holiday movie “Miracles Across 125th Street.” Cannon who is the proud father of seven children, took a picture the fledging actor while the two were onset. Cannon posted “Golden is ready for his closeup.” Outside of a few general details, not much has been released publicly about the film besides Cannon’s search for individuals to portray teens in the film’s choir.
Cannon has also cast gospel legend Karen Clark-Sheard and her daughter Kierra Sheard-Kelly in the Christmas-themed movie. Karen will be playing the role of Nick’s mother. The movie will be the second production for the mother/daughter duo who worked together to re-create the younger Karen Clark played by Kierra in the 2020 Lifetime TV movie The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel.
Deitrick Haddon Tests Positive for COVID-19
Pastor, actor and gospel singer Deitrick Haddon shocked fans with a post on September 2nd that simply read “I just tested positive for COVID-19 today! I’m asking the prayer warriors to send one up for my family and I! Thank you! Deitrick Haddon.” The post came a day after Deitrick celebrated the 6th birthday of his son Deitrick Jr. known as “Bear.” It is unclear whether the “Sick World” singer is the only member of his family to be infected by the virus, but we do know that Haddon has publicly acknowledged that he has lost both family and church members to COVID-19.
B. Slade Releases Long-Awaited Sequel Album “Out the Box 2”
B. Slade formerly known as gospel artist Tonex has finally released his long-awaited “B. Slade Presents…The Peculiar People OUT OF THE BOX 2: Separation of the Church & State 1906.” The 26-track album is a follow up to his 2003 Platinum award-winning, first-ever live album “Out the Box” which featured The Peculiar People who again sing backgrounds for the latest project. B. Slade who has written and produced over 300 songs during his 20-year career released the new album, true to form with a PG (Parental Guidance) label intended for mature audiences.
The album features the single “I Shall Live,” with B. Chase Williams and Shabach, penned by B. Chase. Slade who has proven to be an astute businessman, released “Out the Box 2” as a digital album available for purchase only in its entirety via the Bandcamp app where fans can listen and enjoy unlimited streaming and have access to lyrics, photos, video, behind the scenes footage and updated bonus material. B. Slade who has received three Grammy awards and is a 2x Emmy winner made an appearance during Season 3 of the FX television series “Pose,” and continues to work on multiple music, television and film projects including a movie with fellow gospel singer Deitrick Haddon.
Bishop Marvin Sapp to be Featured in “They Call Me Dad”
Multi award-winning gospel artist Marvin Sapp will be sharing his story and personal journey through Black fatherhood in Oprah Winfrey’s one-hour special “OWN Spotlight: They Call Me Dad” premiering September 14th 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Sapp became a single father in 2010 to his three children when his wife MaLinda Sapp who was his manager and administrative pastor, passed away after a long battle with colon cancer. At the time of her death, their young children were Marvin Jr., 17; Mikaila, 14; and Madisson, 12. The special will also feature celebrity fathers and actors Derek Luke and Tristan Mack Wilds and music mogul Master P.
Lecrae to Host Financial Show “Protect the Bag”
Grammy-winning Christian rap artist Lecrae will be launching “Protect the Bag,” a financial web series aimed at educating the masses through financial literacy. Lecrae who is the CEO of his independent label Reach Records has partnered with Experian North America to present this six-part series in the Fall through Lecrae’s production company, 3 Strand Films. The series will include high-profile guests who will join Lecrae for discussions and explanations of the basics of financial literacy and personal credit information. Lecrae stated “I am on a mission to spread the word on financial education because I wasn’t educated about money and didn’t know about budgeting. I didn’t know to think about the cost of things or what to pay off first because I just didn’t have a strategy.”
